Delivered immersive digital storytelling through a life-sized hologram and interactive transparent LCDs for a cultural exhibition centered on the legendary Malay warrior Hang Tuah. The dual-gallery setup blended heritage and technology to create a captivating visitor journey.

Project Description

As the Project Manager, I oversaw the design, production, and delivery of two distinct digital experiences across MITC Melaka:

  • Gallery 3: A life-sized Hologram Box, featuring a 60-second video of Hang Tuah portrayed by an actor, enhanced with visual effects and a provided soundtrack.
  • Gallery 4: Five Transparent LCD Displays playing 15-second looping animations with simple UI, accessible in English and Malay.

This project required close coordination with video producers, animators, and the client team to ensure historically respectful content and flawless technical integration.

Key Features

Life-Sized Holobox Projection


A 4K-resolution hologram display of Hang Tuah brought to life through green-screen footage, VFX, and professional sound design, enhancing realism and engagement.

Transparent LCD Storytelling

Five animated transparent displays showcased bite-sized cultural narratives, with multi-language (BM/ENG) touch interaction, seamlessly blending tradition and tech.

Dual-Gallery Synchronization

Coordinated visual themes and timeline alignment between hologram and LCD installations ensured a unified visitor journey across both galleries.

Compact and Modular Media Delivery

Content was optimized for client-provided hardware, enabling smooth playback, quick setup, and easy content handover for future reuse or touring exhibits.

My Contributions

    Managed production milestones, client communications, and feedback cycles.

  • UAT & QC Oversight

    Supervised in-house testing with delivered hardware to meet playback and visual standards.

    Facilitated smooth project handover and content submission within a strict 4-week timeline.

Challenges

PM Switch Midway Quick takeover needed without disrupting progress.
Late Hardware Delivery Delayed hardware squeezed testing timelines.
Locked Storyboards No room to adjust visuals based on feedback due to post-approval.
Tight QA Window Minimal time for testing around hardware readiness and iteration.
Multi-Team Juggling Coordinating across teams (animation, video, tech) under pressure.

Lessons Learned

Clear Handover is Key Proper documentation ensures smooth PM transitions.
Secure Hardware Early Early access avoids last-minute testing delays.
Review Before You Lock Pre-finalization reviews allow more flexibility during technical implementation.
Buffer Time is Essential Extra time for testing reduces last-minute stress.
Sync Often, Stay Aligned Regular team check-ins help catch issues early.
