Me: “Is this job offer real or a scam?” 😅

That moment when a life-changing email arrives, and you have to decide: stay in your comfort zone or take the leap?

I chose to leap.

The Beginning of the Adventure

It was my first time flying solo, moving to a new country, and living alone. I knew exactly three people in Malaysia and only virtually! My first week was straight out of a movie:

  • Living in a hotel while apartment hunting.
  • Navigating a new transport system (and getting lost multiple times!).
  • Overpaying 45RM for a taxi (oops!).
  • Learning to trust my gut and finding strength I didn’t know I had.

The Plot Twist

I wasn’t really alone. My husband, my rock, was cheering me on from Sri Lanka, believing in me even when I doubted myself. His support gave me the courage to keep going.

Fast Forward 2.5 Years

That nervous girl who overpaid for taxis is now thriving in Kuala Lumpur, leading major projects, and calling Malaysia her second home. What seemed like a crazy decision has turned into one of the best choices of my life.

Key Learnings from 2.5 Years of Growth

  1. Trust Your Instincts: Except maybe with taxi fares. 😆
  2. Surround Yourself with Believers: Their support can carry you through tough times.
  3. Fear and Readiness Can Coexist: Being scared doesn’t mean you’re not ready.
  4. Growth Happens Outside the Comfort Zone: Take the leap, it’s worth it.
  5. Time Proves Bold Decisions Right: What feels uncertain now will make sense later.

The Takeaway

To anyone standing at the edge of a big decision: You’re stronger than you think. Take that leap, the view from the other side is worth it.

What’s the boldest career move you’ve ever made? And how did it turn out years later?
